About Aral Plus
The Aral Plus advocacy affirms the importance of having a good basic financial education curriculum to develop competencies in knowledge and skills of low-income financial customers. Aral Plus is designed to complement the basic financial education with additional support to drive competencies in attitude and behavior associated with an empowered financial customer. Aral Plus financial education comes with materials, tools, coaching and mentoring that provide experiential learning to enable participants to apply knowledge and skills learned.
Empowerment enables customers to: make informed choices about financial services; feel treated with dignity and respect regardless of transaction size; voice an opinion, which prompts financial services provider to listen and engage with customers; and exercise greater control over their use of financial services and their financial lives.
Aral Plus financial education addresses the identified points of disempowerment, such as lack or unclear information, along the customer’s financial journey. One strategy is to deliver the content right about the time when customers can appreciate having access to clear and relevant information and tools to make decisions and take action (teachable moments).
